"We are so close, only one more mile, there is no reason to give up now," I said to my running buddy, Kathy, and also to myself. We had come so far without stopping once, not even stopping to walk, with only one mile to go, stopping would be quitting.
On both the 8th and today, I ran in a 10k. The first time I ran with my roommate Kathy, and the second time I started off running with Jessica (from my core but not my roommate). However, about three miles into it the second time I started getting heat sick and had to slow my pace down a bit, so Jessica ran on and I ran the last three point two miles on my own.
It was so good. Even though it was really hard, it was awesome. I can really see a parallel to running long distance to spiritual life. It was good to have a running buddy there to keep you moving when you don't want to be, and help them when they wanted to quit. Also, we had people watching us on the sides (in Tyler there were more tha the second one that we ran on campus, which I was not requierd to go to) and chearing us on. Kind of like the great cloud of witnesses talked about in Hebrews.
here are my closeing words...
HA!
To the doctor that told me I could never walk again without a brace on my leg. I have now run 6.2 miles twice in two weeks with only an ace rap.
cough, cough, where did that come from?
