Joey

A few weeks ago a friend of mine, Joey, got a concussion while playing foot ball. He then kept playing after hitting his head. On his way home he starting to have a seizure and passing out. He was then flight for lifed to miami (they moved away from Colorado a few years ago) and they had to do surgery.

I just heard this weekend the first bit of new news I have heard since it happened. He is still in a coma and his whole brain is bruised. The Doctors do not believe there is permanent brain damage, but they do not think he will wake up for another three weeks to six months.

Please be praying for Joey and his family.

Board

So.. Today I got a free snow board! Yep, that is right fokes, a free snow board. I am like super excited! Okay, so I already got free boots a few years back but never had the money to get a board. I was talking to a friend of mine, Rachel, today and she just got a new one and said I could have her old one. Oh yeah! Now all I need is a helmet and a pass.

However, I may be able to get a free one day pass through my dad's work place. It may be a little hard though. Seeing as though there are only a few and they like to mostly let the guys higher up use them. But maybe I can use it on a week day if I ask enough ahead of time. We will see. Rachel also told me of a place I might be able to go free, but I need to see how that will work without a student ID and just an exceptance letter. Hmm...

Anyway, Jennifer does not work on Thursdays, maybe I can work it out with her and my dad's work place to go then. We will see...

I really want to go now, but I know I cannot and that the first day you become good friends with the ground. I will be loving those wrist guards.

In the ditch...

So, I like to think of myself as a pretty good driver, never been pulled over, never hit anything, could get myself out of fishtails, no one has every gotten sick while I was driving that I know of. You know, not the kind of person you see with their car down in the ditch on the side of the road. That is until today...

Colorado has had crazy storms all over the place right? Right. Today my town got hit with its first big snow, and all around it got a tone of snow too. I ride with my dad when he goes to work and then I move over to the drivers side and take the car into town. Where I often go back to sleep, read, and have my quiet time (he has to be to work like super early. I get up at 4am some days :S ).

Anway, before we left the house I got the mother's speach about driving in the snow (you people in TX miss this one). You know how it goes... Drive Slowly, take it easy, slow down for turns, if you do not feel like you can go the speed limit, don't... I smiled, knowing every word my mum was going to say before she said it. Thinking to myself, 'Yeah, I know mum. I have driven in snow storms before and lived.' I guess pride really does come before the fall.

So, when we got to where my dad works they were trying to clear the yard and had not gotten that far in moving the slushy snow. So dad just drove through it. When he opened the dore to get out the snow came up to the bottum of the dore. Yet, I got out of the yard just fine. It was a little bit of a slip-n-slide, but I got out onto the high-way. Where I drove a little over 20 MPH. Then I took note of how dim my head lights were, whether or not they were no bright. I thought to myself, 'they must have snow on them from the dreep snow in the yard. I will just pull over at this next turn and clear them off.' The next turn was less than a half a mile away.

Thus, I started to slow down every more and pulled over. However, the sluchy snow decided I should really not stop where I was planning to, so into the ditch the car began to go.

Luckily I got the car to stop before it went to far into the ditch, but I could not get it out of the ditch. So, I hopped out of the car to clear any snow that could be bloking the tiers with my snow scraper and got back in. Still no luck. Then it was the flashers and wavy down any car that would be sop kind as to stop. That only took a moment and a kind older man pulled over to help me. Sadly, he had a car smaller than my parents and he could not get it out either. All we did was kindof dig it in a hole.

Finally he said, "I am sorry I am not going to be able to get you out. You are going to have to call someone with a truck. Do you know anyone you can call?"

"Yeah, my dad just works back there. I can call him and see if he can come get me out." Once he was sure I would be able to get help, he left for work.

My first phone call got me to my dad's call phone's voice mail (I am starting to stress mind you at this point), also, I found a bad smell coming to me. The car was over heating. I quickly turned it off and said out loud, "great! Now not only am I stuck in the ditch, but the car is over heating! Just great!"

Then I got a hold of my mum, sounding very stress I know, "Hello."

"Mum! I am stuck in the ditch and I cannot get a hold of dad!" I did not even bother saying hello, and I really wanted to start crying. Then she called the office and I tired dad again. This time I got through, and after a little bit of a wait setting in the car thinking of what a great way this was to start my day and hoping the car was not dead from that lovely smell and trip into the ditch. My dad came with two of his co-workers and one had a truck. Dad got in our car, steave in his truck, and the two of them got it out.

Once we were back in the yard, the warning light for the car over heating came on and dad had a look to see what was up. The fan that cools the radiator (sp?) was dead and now the car would over heat when we drove it. SO there it would sit. Thus I could not go on in to town for work (which was sounding a little inviting with how busy my week has been and how my day was starting off). sinse my dad was headed right my our house with his truck, he just took me home. Where I finally had some break fast (as soon as the car was out, I found my thoughts slowly drifting to my lack of food yet today).

Moral of the story, sometimes your mother is right, and the Bible is all the time. I think I will go read in Proverbs before I go to bed here in just a little while to get up early tomorrow. Hopefully it will not be a repeat of today.

Dad was able to fix the car, by the way.

Alumni weekend

so... long time no post and a lot has gone on in that time.

I was in TX last week for TM's 20th year party/alumni weekend. It was great, hot, peaceful.

Anyway, here is more of what I did (pic's should come soon but not in this post):

First off, I flew to TX, like a bird. I grew wings not too long ago, they are pretty sweet :P. Which flying while you are still getting over a head cold is not nice, flying that is. At least the person next to me was nice. His name was Abebe (I bet I killed the spelling of that name).

In one day I went from seeing snow to 90 or 80 temp. Crazy the world we live in and TX is too hot.

(you may have to bear with me for this post. I am in an odd mood)

So, after landing, getting a drink and resting (hey, the wings are new, K). It was off to my aunt and uncle's house until the day after monday of last week, then I would go on to TM to hang with Joanie and several other cool people.

At my aunt and uncles, I went shopping, to Gregory's baseball game (his team won), hung out, church, out to eat, my aunts crazy but wounderful salleds, wars, homestarrunner.com (and i am sure my aunt just loves me for showing her two boys that site :D).

Then once I got to TM, very last the day after monday of last week, I got to meet Joanie's roommates and different members from her core and then went to sleep. I got there like after 11, it was crazy.

Okay, so the reason I got to TM so late...
so after getting to TX, as in there is no repacking of the bags left to do, or be able to do. I here the day after monday of last week around four, that there will be a gala at alumni weekend. My thoughts, "AHHH>>>>! I have nothing to wear that is formal." So, before leaqving for TM after dinner, my aunt and I go to Ross and I found a beautiful dress for only 20$. So I got it and it made me very happy inside with its beauty. However, it would need straps sown on, but I was sure I could get that done before the Gala.

Then guess what one of Joanie's roommates informed me of, it is simi formal.
I have no words for that moment.

Anyway...
The next day I went to class with Joanie and spent time finding people that were still there from my Core. You have no idea how good it was to see them again (well, maybe you do). I love those ladies!

So, lots of hang out time and chilling to read and a few naps too (hello, it was a vacation... naps are like a part of the deal). Then I had a wedding to go to the day before Friday of last week. Shara my manager while I worked in the Mail room is now married to Joey, and I showed up late to the wedding (okay, so I was late or just plan missed a lot of things last week. I was even riding in a car that was late to pick up Charity Luce. Yeah... I am not sure what happened to me last week. Normally I hate to be late to anything and it was like I just threw that out the window). I was not the only one a little late though. Hidie and Josh were late too (my twin brother Josh, and he was taking picturs... good thing Erick was taking them as well). Shara looked so pretty and Joey and his two little girls, Heather and Haily, looked so happy.

The Friday came along and Alumni weekend really started (I got there early). I got to see a tone of people I knew from my internship year, oh so long ago (or the day before today as it seems). If I started to list them I would not name them all, so just know it was a lot. Oh, also, so cool, Friday night we, girls from my core and other people that love her, decided it was lame that Shannon, my CA, could not come because of money. So, we got money together and got her a ticket. Then, the girls from my core stayed up untill she came that night. We watched out the window for her like little kids waiting for their dad to get home from a long trip or something. I went to bed around two (I threw sleeping out the window as well).

The day after Friday was the Gala and I found Jr. and his gril friend (I will make a post just to tell you about that later and a pic of the two). I had been looking for them all weekend!

It was way odd seeing couples on a campus where I was not aloud to date. People holding hands, maybe even kissing. It looked wrong at first, but them you remembered they were no longer interns and that it was okay.

Well, for all of you that are wondering, no I did not get a Boyfriend this weekend. Even though it is nick named hookup weekend, The weekend where interns relise they can date and ask those pretty girls out, I mainly just hung with my core. Not really wanting that anyway.

long lost cousin Joe

So... last weekend I met my long lost cousin Joe:

Julie hanging over the side of the boat.

Joe and the back of Jennifer's head.

So, Joe is my third cousinon my dad's side and we had never met him. Then this last year he moved not to far from us to go to college and his parents found out we did not live far from where he would be. So, after many years of not even my parents seeing them (as in Joe's parents) my family got together with them while I was at TM.

Anyway, now I have met them too.
